Workshop Fee: $160 for entire series

Activate the muscle groups which support the pelvic floor. Research shows that the lower abdominals and pelvic floor muscles co-contract to stabilize the pelvis and lower back. This gentle restorative program focuses on breathing techniques, spinal alignment, stabilization and appropriate range of motion to engage the pelvic floor as part of exercises where abdominal, as well as, other muscle groups are involved. Taught by Leisa DeCarlo Taylor, Certified Post Natal Pilates Instructor and Anna Sakhno PT, DPT Certified Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner.

Phillips Family Cancer Center

For patients with cancer, Tai Chi Qigong provides benefits to many of the side effects associated with cancer and cancer treatment. Regularly practicing Tai Chi or Qigong can calm the mind and emotions. The slow, rhythmic movements combined with deep, relaxation breathing helps to bring a sense of peace and grounding. All fitness levels are welcome, as modifications can be made to accommodate each individual participant.

Osteoporosis Lecture

Osteoporosis is a disease that weakens bones making them thinner and less dense. This can result in bone fractures which significantly impact quality of life. Dr. Heidi Roppelt, board-certified rheumatologist at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, will discuss osteoporosis and osteopenia, the causes, as well as diagnosis, treatment and disease management.  This disease is more prevalent in women, although men can also be affected. Please contact your local library, or East Hampton Library at (631) 324-0222, for a zoom link.
